Kirsten Vail Aguilar was born and raised in Sonoma, California. She holds a degree in International and Global Studies from Middlebury College and an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Notre Dame where she taught creative writing to undergraduate students and received the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award. She has attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and a residency at the Arquetopia Foundation in Peru. Her work has been published in the Iowa Review and the Gettysburg Review, among others. Currently, she lives in Madrid.
